Babies and Boos

Just wanted to share a few creations from the last week- I have been busy doing different things.

First, here is a baby shower card for someone at work. I made the baby's using punches- I CASE'd this idea and technique from Sophia over at Sunny Stampin' (Andrea Walford's blog). Id idn't have the exact same punches, so I had to improvise, the effect isn't as good, but fun none-the-less.
This next project is a little halloween decor I made for the house using coasters. It was fun to make and play with the colors. Everything shown is stampin up with the exception of the B (in boo) and the glitter paint used on the second O- which you can hardly see here- and the purple ribbon- which were all purchase at a LCS.

Not much to say today, but thanks for stopping by!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you & BLOG CANDY!

This post will remain at the top until 9/20- at which point I will pick a winner using random.org. Newer posts will be below.

OK, so I get on my blog this am to post a card I made yesterday and I notice that in the last few days that my blog has jumped by over 1000 hits! It was a nice suprise to go from 9,600+ to over 11,000!!! I was contemplating doing some blog candy at 10,000, but I guess I have to now, since you all just made my day! :) (BIG GRIN!)

The card I was going to post today is a thank you card from the Very Thankful stamp set, how appropriate! So thank you, to all of you who visit my blog stories and come to see cards (or even if you just do one or the other)! It really means a lot to me to know that people enjoy what I create and I LOVE it when you leave comments.

9/11/09 ETA- Someone asked about the peacock and how it was done. The peacock was stamped in brilliant blue. I then colored in the blank parts of the feathers in with Taken with Teal and Green Galore. After I went around the feathers (and a bit on the head tuft) with my versamark pen. I used my SU! Gold embossing powder and heated it up. Wallah! All supplies were SU! with the exception of the ribbon, which was just to perfect to pass up. :)

So........how about some BLOG CANDY to show my appreciation?!?!?! This is what I am offering:

9/11/09 ETA Blog Candy photo and contents (below)-
  • Stampin' Up! Congrats Stamp Set
  • Stampin' Up! Fresh Cut Note Cards

Here's how you can win:

  • Post a link on your blog about this opportunity to win blog candy and link that below- one entry
  • Post a comment below- one entry

So you have two chances to win. Good Luck and thanks for stopping by! :)

Random

Today's post is just an assortment of random cards that I have made in the last week or so. They are fun. you can tell I am not ready to give in totally to the fall/winter colors.

First I have a card for a small shoe box swap I participate in with my Secret Sister Group. For those who don't know, a shoe box swap is a where you design a card (or card front) and cut the supplies for everyone else to make one. Everyone in the group does the same so you all get to make one another's cards they designed. In the end you get to go home with a bunch of different cards made by you and maybe you learned a new technique, used a new product, or did something you wouldn't have thought of- it's fun. My card was a holiday card but made with some non-traditional colors- whisper white, pretty in pink and sage shadow. I used the new impressions folder Petals-a-Plenty and the brushed my pretty in pink pad across the top to ink up the raised portion of the card. All supplies will be listed at the end. (I will post other cards from the shoebox swap later in the week. )

The next are some thank you cards I made up for those who completed my online survey. I sent them this card made with the Very Thankful Ronald McDonald House SU! set. I also sent them a stack of images stamped on white that they can color or make into cards, or whatever.

Finally, the last is a baby card. I made a small stack of these and am working on making more of this and others to put up in a local baby store for sale. The pea pod idea was CASEd from Holly Jones, another SU! demo. It is actually a leaf die but she was brilliant in thinking it looked more like a pea pod! I agree, so I went for it. Very fun. :)

Advanced Technique Club's September Meeting

Just wanted to share my most recent cards with you. These are for next weeks Advanced Technique Club. Normally, I don't show them ahead of time, BUT, I allow my girls to bring a guest and they wanted to show what we were making to entice their friends, so I had to share with my girls. Hey, if they know, you might as well too.

This first one is a halloween card that uses sponging as the main technique. I used it to create clouds, but you could use this to create all kinds of backgrounds. I like the look of this card with the DSP behind it.

Next is a fall card. to make this card I used Emboss resist and a brayer. What a fun toy the brayer is! I haven't played with it much but will be doing more of it for sure! I originally learned the technique from Andrea Walford. You can find her tutorial here- http://andreawalford.com/?p=672

Supplies:
Card 1- Halloween
Stamps- Scary Skeleton
Paper- Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Whisper White and Cast-a-spell DSP
Ink- Basic Black, Whisper White
Accessories- Scallop Circle Punch, Sponge, Circle Punch, Black embossing power, Oval Punch, Pumpkin Pie Ribbon

Card 2- Thanksgiving
Stamps- Falling Leaves
Paper- Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Kraft
Ink- Really Rust, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Close to Cocoa, Versamark
Accessories- Sponge daubers, Clear embossing Powder, Brayer, Ticket Corner Punch, Dusty Durnago Polka Dot Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by!
